Our Battalion

Our Battalion was organized in the fall of 1928 by Major Shreffler and Lieutenants Fessinger and Mendoza who were sent from El Paso High to Austin High School to establish the program. The first Panther Battalion consisted of 139 new cadets. The battalions from both of these schools helped lay the foundation for the JROTC program in the EPISD, encouraging other schools to establish the program themselves.  Our Battalion is the second in the brigade, having been established 8 years after El Paso High's, and being followed by Bowie's battalion 7 years later.
